Of Ugandan descent, singer-songwriter Angela Muhwezi first caught the attention of the LA underground music scene in 2014 via her collaborations with space funk artist Captain Supernova. In 2015 she cofounded Notown Sound Records and released her debut single, New Age, an incendiary two minute biopic of race relations and police brutality.

She released a six song EP later that year, entitled Unscripted, which Buzzbands LA described "an incorporation of flavors such as big band, hip-hop, rock, R&B and soul, with Muhwezi's voice commanding each track with personality and versatility." Upon hearing Unscripted, influential French blogger Marina Ntsonga of Young Gifted and Black proclaimed her "un coup de foudre musical" (a musical thunderbolt).

Angela returns in 2017 with Conqueror, written to inspire and empower her listeners to overcome adversity in any form. Produced by Hawthorne and rapper Marrque Nunley, who also features on the track, Conqueror is fueled by the sounds of the newly formed Hawthorne Philharmonic Orchestra, a 21-piece ensemble of the finest young luminary jazz and classical musicians in LA.
