Multi-instrumentalist/producer John Fahr started production on his album "Go north" in the spring of 2012--recording at three residential locations (on a budget of exactly $0). "Go North" is a solo passion project that comes on the heels of Fahr's instrumental/production contribution to Andy Lehman's album "Badlands." During the course of recording, Fahr worked at a distribution center (read: warehouse) in upstate South Carolina--tracking and writing in his downtime (often jotting down ideas on packing envelopes when inspiration struck on the job).

The project was envisioned as a loose concept album, relating the story of an individual who feels unprepared for the journey that unfolds before him. Some moments are quite literal, while others are more poetic--echoing the artist's tendency to flow stylistically between pop simplicity and symphonic artistry.
